The Basics of a Blog Post Structure
- Decide on the post’s keyword
- Add a Direct Post Title with the keyword in it, if possible
- Catchy and short introduction paragraph, with your keyword in it
- Relevant content and at least one image (with Alt description)
- Organize the post in a way that makes it easy to read and digest
- Create a conclusion that is engaging or prompts the reader to share your post
Breaking it down:
Once you’re clear on what the post is going to be about, try to decide which word will be the most important in the post body. This is the word that you will most likely use the most and be able to use on your post title and introduction paragraph.
Your post title is usually an H1 header and is probably the first thing search engines will look at. So, it is your ultimate keyword spot. That being said, don’t get too creative with the title. Instead, try to use something simple, catchy, with the right words.
It’s pretty much like writing an essay: the introduction is what will make or break it. If those first few words are really good, the reader will definitely want to go on and see what comes next. We used to call it “the hook” in college, as the purpose really is to hook readers.
Of course, we can be fun or smart on the first paragraph, but it must be within context and act like a little free display of the even better things that are to come next.
Relevant Content & Image
No one wants to read the most interesting introduction to find out how boring and off the rest of the text is. We’ve all watched this movie before… If what you say about a certain topic isn’t much, then keep it short. Short, but relevant and interesting. Use your keywords a few times when the opportunity rises (I’d say 3-4 times is more than enough).
There’s so much to say about images in blog posts, that it deserves a full article. But a few tips are: keep image in line with your branding, add a readable title to at least one of the images, and add an alt description to the image.

Make the Post Easy to Read
There’s an order on headers, starting with H1, then H2, H3, and so on. Use headers when the chance appears. Do not write a whole post in H1 or H2, as Google will sure penalize your blog for that.
Use bullet points, numbered lists, and headers whenever possible, to keep your post organized. Doesn’t it make things much easier to read and process?
Use Custom Permalinks
Your post url is also a very important part of your post. So, if your post title is “My Daily Routine For A Healthy Skin”, make sure your post url also have it in it. I believe things like “for” and “a” are called “stop words” and are unnecessary in your post url structure, as Google filters them out. Here’s a list of 2016’s stop words.
The best permalink would be your blog address, followed by the blog title, I believe. The Blogger/Blogspot platform gives you no option and adds the year/month before the post -which is also fine. WordPress gives you several options under Settings > Permalink.
