We are always investing in ways to make our online business stand out, right? For a business owner, being noticed is a must. One of the top questions I get during my website reviews + consulting sessions is “How do I get my business noticed?” So I thought it would be nice to share a few things that could help you boost your online presence.

Some of these things I do often, others rarely, but they are all good options to adopt if you want to get your business noticed.

1. Talk About It

There is no such thing as “build and they will come.” I have never seen it work in my 20+ years of online business. While I do not approve of the buzz-term “selling is serving”, I will agree that we have to talk about our business and services frequently. Competition exists, and making sure our audience understands our brand, business, and unique services is major!

2. Be Consistent

Consistency is key for anything, especially for blogging and social media presence. Let people know what to expect: daily posts, monthly, every Wednesday, etc. Once the audience knows our schedule, it becomes easier for them to keep up with our business. So, consistency doesn’t mean going crazy daily, it means sticking to a reliable schedule -this simple act builds trust between us and our community.

3. Overdeliver Value

If what we are talking about is not of value to the audience, why would they ever give us more than a second of their attention? And why would they return to our website and eventually buy from us? It’s all a chain of events… Establishing our passion and authority starts with sharing relevant things with our audience.

4. Create A Special Segment

Having a specific segment is something that can truly help your online presence. Something catchy, and unique, that you run on your blog or main social media account every week or month. Do you know the trend “Throwback Thursday”? Something like that. I once considered “Tuesday Talks” for Instagram Lives about branding. Find something in your area of expertise, choose the frequency and style of the segment, and nail it!

5. Define Your Niche

I know you’ve heard this one a thousand and sixteen times, but it is true. The more specific you are about something, the better. A blog about recipes will have more chances of being successful than a blog on recipes, beauty, DIY, business, and all that can fit in it. We tend to consume specific things from specific brands – these specific things are linked directly to the brand’s niche.

6. Use Hashtags

Oh, the hashtags game. It’s a thing. And if you find the strategy that works for you, it’s gold.  It’s important to notice that each platform has its rules and the best structure for hashtags, so do a quick research on the topic according to your main platform. I used a 5-5-5 structure on Instagram (5 hashtags of the topic of the post, 5 for the audience I wanted to reach, and 5 for the problems the hashtags covered or solved). On LinkedIn, I was told 2 hashtags, preferably related to the hashtags we use on the profile, give better results.

7. Use Beautiful Images In Your Post

Randomly using images will only help to create a visual mess on your online presence (blog, social media feed, website, etc). One image with a vintage filter, another with a clean modern look… stick to one style. The brand style should dictate this easily. 8. Have A Fantastic Website Design

We are in a phase where the minimal designs are appreciated, so if you like this style, jump in! If not, still make sure your design is as clean as possible, to make it easier for visitors to browse your website easily. Always keep in mind the user experience and client journey -make it easy to find relevant things on your site, make the browsing of pages easy and uncluttered, and focus on what matters. If your blog has a sidebar, make sure it is clean, organized, and has the most relevant things on the top.

9. Use Pinterest

Pin your blog post and product images on your Pinterest account, to attract more traffic to your website. Pinterest is a hidden gem. Idea Pins has a fantastic reach -think Google for creatives, but much easier to succeed in it.

10. Schedule Your Content

Twitter feed moves fast, so it’s normal to schedule 3-4 posts for each day.

On TikTok and Instagram, once a day is the norm.

On Pinterest, 5 times a day…

Each platform has its game, but planning ahead and scheduling are invaluable. This will ensure our presence is constant and we are always on the audience’s radar.

11. Be Part Of The Community

If you don’t insert yourself into the community, you’re trying to navigate a sea of creatives all alone.

  • Visit, read, follow and comment on other accounts
  • Connect with other bloggers through Social Media.
  • Join paid communities in your niche or that have your ideal audience in it.

Last week I heard on a podcast that we should be trying to grow with our community, not lead it. While the CEO/boss babe mentality is cool and all, don’t let it take you so far ahead and above that no one can reach you. We are all looking for people whom we can relate to, not follow.
